Huawei’s new budget smartphone Honor 6X, showcased first in China in October 2016, will be making its debut in the US market from Thursday onward. The company announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017, that the Honor 6X will be available through online stores at $249 (approximately Rs 16,988).
The new smartphone is notable for its dual camera feature which was first seen in P9 and later in Honor 8. However, in its case user gets a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel secondary camera instead of two 12-megapixel cameras. The objective of the two cameras is to allow users to adjust the depth of field in an image after they have clicked it.
Unlike its predecessor Honor 5X which runs on a Qualcomm processor outside China and HiSilcion Kirin processor in China, the Honor 6X runs only on the HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core processor. The processor is paired with 3GB RAM while internal storage stands at 32GB with the flexibility to add more via microSD card.
The phone’s images show that it has a unibody metallic exterior like its predecessor. The finger print sensor is placed on the back, the SIM tray on the side and the micro USB and the speakers on the base. The phone’s 5.5-inch display has a screen resolution of 1,920×1,020p and pixel density of 403ppi which puts it at par with its rivals such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Moto G 4th Gen.
The Honor 6X runs Android 6,0 but is likely to get the Android Nougat update to bring it on par with the Lenovo Moto smartphones which have already started rolling out the Google update. The Honor 6X also runs the latest EMUI 4.0 version of Honor’s proprietary custom interface which offers some very useful customisation options for users.
